Risk of Rain 2’s creators have regrettably announced that the game’s first paid DLC, Survivors of the Void, which debuted on PC last month, will now be available on consoles and Google Stadia in Q4 instead.

UPDATE: On May 10, 2022, Survivors of the Void was made available on Stadia.

Hoppo Games and Gearbox Publishing officially moved the release of Survivors of the Void to Q4 of 2022 in order to accommodate the console releases of Risk of Rain 2 and Stadia, as was announced in a developer update today. After a few weeks of basically nothing surrounding the console post of this expansion, there is now an update. The expansion was initially expected to debut in Q2.

Why the wait? Hoppo notes that in addition to the necessity to balance out new game components, the expansion also brought about new issues. That Survivors of the Void will be released on all console platforms in the condition you deserve is ensured by the decision to delay the game’s release on consoles and Stadia.

We have chosen to postpone the Platform release of Survivors of the Void until later this year in early Q4 in order to release the console versions concurrently to this same standard, including all the changes we’ve already made to the PC version.

The Stadia port of Risk of Rain 2 will also be included in that release schedule, Google further confirmed in a community post today. This is quite unexpected given how similar the PC and Stadia editions of the game are. Whatever the case, the explanation is very welcome.

Purchase Survivors of the Void from the Gearbox Publishing team on the Stadia store concurrently with other console platforms to play the new expansion.

Survivors of the Void is a paid $14.99 expansion for Risk of Rain 2, adding two new playable characters—Void Friend and Railgunner—along with three new levels, over a dozen new enemy types, and hundreds of new items to the gameplay.
