A few more Galaxy smartphones are receiving the August 2022 Android security patch from Samsung. The latest security patch for this month is now available for the Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A53. The update’s availability varies by model, but we anticipate the business will cover all eligible units internationally within the coming days.

Starting with the Galaxy A52, the phone’s LTE and 5G cellular versions will start using the August SMR (Security Maintenance Release). With units in the US, Brazil, Russia, and a few Asian nations already receiving the updated OTA (over the air) package, the rollout for this phone is extremely extensive. Only in the US is the handset available unlocked, and Samsung has made the upgrade available on most networks. Depending on the area and cellular version of the Galaxy A52, different firmware versions are available.

On the other hand, the Galaxy A53 is available both unlocked and carrier-locked, and neither has the August SMR yet. The upgrade for the more recent model is now being rolled out in South Korea, Russia, and Canada. It is only compatible with 5G cellular connectivity. Along with the most recent vulnerability fixes, the phone will also receive camera and system stability upgrades.

Advertisement With the August SMR, Samsung is also spreading remedies for more than 60 vulnerabilities. Over 30 Android OS issues are among them, one of which Google has classified as critical. It enabled a malicious actor to remotely run code through Bluetooth. The remaining 30 or so flaws are exclusive to Galaxy tablets and smartphones. These included Samsung DeX, Knox VPN, App Lock, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and other elements. A few of these issues were given the critical severity designation by Samsung.

THE ANDROID 13 UPDATE WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THE GALAXY A52 AND A53. In March of last year, Samsung released the Galaxy A52, which runs Android 11. Three significant Android OS updates are available to it, and one of them has already been released (Android 12). Throughout its lifetime, it will also receive Android 13 and Android 14. The Galaxy A53, on the other hand, debuted this year with Android 12 pre-installed. Samsung guarantees the new premium mid-ranger four Android OS updates. It will thus receive upgrades through Android 16.

Both phones could receive Android 13 as early as 2023 or later this year. You will receive a couple additional security updates in the interim. You will be informed as usual when the OTA package arrives on your device. From the Settings app, you may manually check for updates as well.
