Employees can enter their working locations in Google Calendar as one way to support hybrid work, and an upcoming tweak will make that UI less intrusive.

Google presented the information immediately above all-day events when working locations launched in Calendar for paid accounts in August of last year (in the week view). While entries had circular icon badges, this row was identified by a location icon on the left. The rest of the box had a background that was much brighter, but the resemblance to event entries persisted.

By providing the same functionality for quickly inputting and updating location information in a more condensed format that makes better use of screen space, this update enhances the working location feature.

This entails calendar.google.com changing to a thin line that won’t be mistaken for an appointment and a pill-shaped location indicator at the left.
