Like Disney, Netflix is getting ready to provide an ad-supported tier for a lower price than the standard package. We all feel conflicted about this because the business warns that there will be some budget cuts with this additional tier. Now, The Tape Drive claims that downloading videos from Netflix’s ad-supported tier may not be possible.

We already know that Netflix’s ad-supported tier would experience some reductions. All of Netflix’s third-party material is permitted to be viewed without advertisements, therefore the business must update those permits to permit the inclusion of commercials. This indicates that it’s possible that some businesses won’t renew. Netflix won’t be able to offer it for ad-supported views if that occurs.

Now, you might not be able to download videos from Netflix’s ad-supported tier. Don’t pull out the torches and pitchforks just yet; this is still merely speculative. The Drives for Tape The Netflix app for iOS contained a line that Steve Moser discovered. It has text. All plans, with the exception of Netflix with advertisements, allow downloads.

Advertisement It doesn’t get much more simple than that. It appears that Netflix will only allow its more expensive tiers to download videos. We are unable to predict whether or not that will occur at this time. Netflix hasn’t verified or disputed anything, although the business did give TechCrunch the following statement:

We have not yet made any decisions regarding how to introduce a more affordable, ad-supported option because it is so early in the process. So far, all of this is just conjecture.

It’s unclear from that statement whether the ad-supported tier will in fact limit downloads. We must wait for the corporation to make an official statement because there are still many unanswered questions around this potential pay tier.

Advertisement THIS CHOICE IS COMMON SENSE. Some people might object to Netflix’s ad-supported tier removing downloads, but it all makes sense. Consider this: if you aren’t watching the advertising, having an ad-supported tier is pointless.

You can avoid seeing the commercials by downloading the content and watching it offline. Why watch advertisements when you can download an entire season of your favorite program and watch it offline while you’re taking a shower? Yes, it requires more work, but people WILL still do it.

By doing that, the corporation will not only gain less money from advertising, but individuals will also probably switch from their current plan to the less expensive one in order to pay less each month. Although restricting access to downloaded content may not seem like the most consumer-friendly move, business is business.
