Google recently unveiled the Pixel Buds Pro, but they won’t be available for another few weeks. Sony LinkBuds S may be just what you need if you require Assistant integration, smart features, and active noise reduction right now.

The Sony LinkBuds S offer a more conventional physical factor but some intriguing functions, building on some of the concepts of the ambient sound-focused LinkBuds that debuted earlier this year.

The primary benefit of the Sony LinkBuds S is that they feature active noise cancellation (ANC) and have a closed-back design. The earbuds include a transparency mode that allows external audio to be piped in and support Sony’s LDAC high-fidelity audio codec.

The extremely lightweight design of the LinkBuds S is its most notable feature, according to Sony. Each earbud only weighs 4.8 grams. In contrast, Pixel Buds Pro will weigh 6.2 grams while Pixel Buds A-Series will weigh slightly over 5 grams for each earbud without ANC. According to Sony, these earbuds can employ their smart features to be a part of a user’s complete day, which is consistent with this statement. Additionally, the earphones have an IPX4 grade for water resistance.

One of Sony’s new smart features is the potential for the earbuds to start playing music as soon as they are inserted, which will aid in achieving that goal. After a call is over, you can hear ambient effects or the playlist of your choosing will start playing right away thanks to Spotify integration. These enable Google Assistant integration and Fast Pair on Android, just as Sony’s other earbuds.

Although the Sony LinkBuds S appear to be a good overall package, there is one significant reason to wait for the Pixel Buds Pro. In contrast to the 11 hours Google claims for the Pixel Buds Pro, the LinkBuds S are only certified for nine hours on a charge with ANC turned off. The lack of wireless charging in Sony’s new earbuds is regrettable given their price.

Pre-orders for the $199 LinkBuds S are now available from Amazon , Best Buy , and other retailers. Along with the standard black and white selections, Best Buy also offers a unique beige color.
