The Google Play Store is currently rolling out Stadia 4.16, which adds enhancements to in-app help, 1440p streaming preparations, and other features.

Regarding APK Insight: We’ve decompiled the most recent version of an app that Google put on the Play Store in our APK Insight post. When we decompile these files—known as APKs for Android apps—we can find numerous lines of code that allude to potential future features. Remember that Google might or might not ever deploy these features, and our understanding of what they are might be limited. However, we’ll try to give those that are nearly finished a chance to demonstrate how they’ll seem if they do ship. Read on with that in mind.

1440P STREAMING IS PROBABLE We discovered a newly added reference to UPTO 1440P in the most recent version to Stadia’s Android app, which gave us the impression that Google may be working on a new resolution tier for the service. Stadia technically already supports 1440p streaming on PCs and laptops with screens that are higher than 1440p but lower than 4K.

When Stadia broadcasts at 1440p on desktops today, you’re viewing a downscaled version of the 4K stream rather than a pure 1440p stream, as pointed out by Chris Klay , developer of the great Stadia Enhanced addon.

It appears that Google is now formalizing Stadia’s 1440p support by adding it as a menu option for apps. The most recent cue appears in some text that describes a higher degree of data use than what is currently available in the app.

Data use could reach 14.4 GB per hour.

The new tier confirms that we’re probably looking at a 1440p tier because it fits comfortably between the 12.6GB per hour needed by 1080p streaming and the 20GB per hour utilized for Stadia Pros 4K tier. But as of right now, it’s still unclear whether this is meant to be used on 1440p Android devices or an Android TV-enabled set.

HELP IN-APP A straightforward Help button that launches your web browser to Google Stadia’s support sites is tucked away within the menus of the Stadia apps. With indications of an in-app method to contact a Stadia support person, it appears Google may have new ambitions for how users can seek assistance with the service.

Another possibility is that the app is just generating a customized version of the link below that will provide help staff with the details they require to more accurately identify your problem.

Customization of Touch Controllers Google has been improving Stadia’s touchscreen game controller in recent releases, most recently making way for game-specific touch controls. Google may be intending to further customize the touch controller in Stadia 4.16 by changing the size of the touch buttons, for example.

AVERAGES AND ENDS With a few more references to Ubisoft Rewards showing up in the app texts, it looks that the close relationship between Stadia and Ubisoft is still going strong. If you have a current Ubisoft subscription, you might be able to redeem those prizes right from the Stadia app.

The Stadia app has received a significant number of new ratings descriptors from the ESRB, PEGI, and USK; however, it’s conceivable that this is merely routine maintenance rather than a foreshadowing of any impending games.
