The quality-of-life upgrades and new features that make up Android 13 are numerous. On Android 13, one of these fresh features is cross-device copy and paste. To paste something, simply copy it on one device, send it to the other, then choose where to paste it.

Speaker During Google I/O 2022 Many Android-specific features that improve our lives were broken down by Liza Ma. She talked through a new tool that lets users smoothly transfer content from one device and put it onto another as one of the features. Emails and texting are not necessary.

an animation was shown demonstrated the functionality of the feature in the keynote. Basically, you may use one device to copy some text or an image, then share the clip from your clipboard. You can share the duplicated content with what appears to be Nearby Share and transfer it to another device. Once it has received it, the gadget can paste the media wherever it is. While it may not be as simple as copying something from one device and pasting it onto another, it is still much simpler than the current ways, which for some people, like me, required sending a Slack DM to yourself and copying the media again.

The process of copying something will appear slightly different in Android 13. You can see in Figure In the demo that an Android device treats a fresh copy like a screenshot by cropping the media to fit in the corner and displaying it there. A little Nearby Share icon and an Edit pencil are located on the side of that window. This text-copying function has been redesigned and is already present in Android 13 beta versions.

Google made mention that Android 13 would be released this fall and bring this new capability to Android smartphones and tablets. This most likely indicates that Android 13 will roll out the copy and paste feature along with the full public release.
