At Google I/O 2022, Android Auto is getting a split-screen mode that allows you to always view navigation and media controls. This redesign is especially well suited for people with older cars that have smaller displays because it can be adjusted to any screen size. As of right now, more than 150 million automobiles globally have Android Auto.

ANIMATED ANDROID DESIGN This makeover, known as Coolwalk, can adjust to any screen size in an Android Auto-enabled vehicle. The largest card uses three and is devoted to navigation and mapping. You always have access to the music, podcast, and other audio options, and you can swipe through the contextual Assistant suggestions in the third window.

Any display from an analog source is possible. Your timepiece displays the date, missed calls, trip ETAs that can be swiftly shared with contacts, and incoming text messages (albeit they still show up as a top banner). When you receive messages, Google will allow you respond with voice replies, emoji, or on-screen response recommendations.

The bar that displays the time, your phone’s signal, and its battery level as well as keys to access the app grid, alerts, and Assistant is the second essential element of this user interface. This strip can be docked to the left or appears at the bottom of your screen. On portrait displays, the map prefers the right side or the top.

The flexible interface, which will be made available this summer, does not restrict multitasking to widescreens like it did in the past and allows individuals with 5- or 6-inch displays in earlier vehicles to experience split-screen mode. With this revamp, Google is able to future-proof Android Auto as screens in automobiles become increasingly more common.

Android Auto redesign

AUTOMOTIVE ANDROID OS Google reaffirmed that YouTube will be coming to the dedicated Android Automotive platform, and Tubi TV and Epix both have plans to deploy video streaming apps. Additionally, you’ll be able to Cast material from your phone to the screen in your car. According to Google, this is perfect for charging or waiting for curbside pickup.
