Google Maps has added a number of features to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Street Browse, including the option to view historical data on Android and iOS devices and a new camera setup.

In 2014, Google Maps for the web made it possible to view earlier Street View images. The Android and iOS apps will soon have access to the ability to go back in time. When the app first launches, a See more dates button will appear, opening a carousel of earlier captures for that place. Street View imagery can be found as far back as 2007, and Google Maps for mobile is now offering this historical browsing feature.

Meanwhile and Street View Studio were launched by Google to enable speedy and bulk publishing of 360-degree image sequences. With the tool, you may preview 360-degree videos before uploading them. Filtering is possible based on filename, location, and processing state. Upon completion, browser notifications are sent.

You can manage, track, and upload your Street View content with ease. Sit back and unwind while we work.

In addition, Pegman from maps.google.com is sporting a birthday hat and balloons, and you may use the Street View car as your navigation icon when you’re driving.

In relation to such automobiles, Google is using a Street View camera that is far smaller than previous models. This incredibly portable device is, according to the manufacturer, about the size of a house cat and weighs less than 15 pounds.

It may therefore be shipped anywhere. This is especially useful when we collaborate with colleagues around the globe to take pictures of historically under-mapped regions like the jungle of the Amazon.

The modular design of this new camera enables Google to add more parts, such as lidar laser scanners, to collect imagery with even more useful information, such as lane lines or potholes, as required. Last but not least, it may be operated from a mobile device and mounted to any automobile with a roof rack (versus specialized car and complex processing equipment). It will officially launch the next year and keep enhancing features like Live View AR navigation.

With this flexibility, we may investigate more environmentally friendly options for our current fleet of cars, such as plug-in hybrids or completely electric vehicles, and make collections simpler for partners throughout the world. Next year, you’ll begin to see our brand-new camera alongside our recognizable Street View cars and trekkers in vibrant Google colors.
