Fuchsia for the Nest Hub Max was announced by Google last week, and users on the preview program are already beginning to receive it. The only modification is that the settings menu now includes a Bluetooth menu.
You can find out what version of Fuchsia the Nest Hub Max is running by going to Settings andgt; About device. The original Nest Hub is also running 6.2xxx in the preview program, which was first released in May and added the app launcher to Google’s original Smart Display.
You’ll find a new Bluetooth menu item that lists devices that have already been linked with the Nest Hub Max when you return to the main Settings page. There are shortcuts for Bluetooth speaker use on the display and pairing new devices. Compared to having to connect using the Google Home app, this is much more practical.
Initial Nest Hub:
The Smart Display experience on Fuchsia is identical to that on other devices, which is the whole goal. The camera functions nicely, and performance stays fluid.
We still have not received the more extensive interface redesign that was first seen on the second-generation Nest Hub in late March. When swiping down from the top of the screen, it brought up a fast settings panel because it was running the earlier Cast OS. The grid of apps is the only one that can be dragged up from the bottom. This UI redesign has not yet been extensively adopted. People who had that revamp at first have now lost it.
In the future, version F7 of Fuchsia will introduce the previously detailed update at the end of the next month, which will do away with the Hub Max’s bridge and range extender features. This is merely a pre-upgrade and does not actually add Matter (over Thread).
