After teasing the thin wearable, Xiaomi launched the Mi Band 7 in China, boasting a number of noteworthy upgrades over its less expensive predecessor.

The Mi Band 7 was unveiled in Xiaomi’s home country and keeps the same design as the Mi Band 6, but its display has been expanded from 1.52 inches to 1.62 inches, has a 326ppi pixel density, and has a 25% larger viewing area. The famous Always-on function is now supported by the AMOLED display, making it possible to quickly see important information without turning on the device.

To commemorate this improvement, Xiaomi has created over 100 new watch faces to decorate the Mi Band 7’s bigger AMOLED display. Each new design has been adjusted to ensure minimum battery draw when using additional features throughout the day, such as SpO2 and heart rate monitoring. If levels fall below 90%, the blood oxygen tracking (SpO2) device can now vibrate and alert you. Despite several recent incarnations of the Mi Band lineup including SpO2 tracking as standard, this was not possible on earlier models.

Running, swimming, cycling, yoga, hiking, and more routines are among the 120 sport tracking modes that are now accessible. Calorie tracking is also available, and the Mi Band 7’s training analysis can offer pointers, tactics, and approximations of data on fat reduction. This data include details like VO2 max, advised rest intervals, and safe training advice.

The battery life is advertised as lasting up to 14 days with average use, although Xiaomi claims that heavy use can extend that to nine days. Regrettably, the Mi Band 7 still has a specialized magnetic charger that attaches to the back of the chassis for the display.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 7 will be offered in six hues, including black, blue, green, pink, white, and orange, for the pre-order price of 239 yuan (about $36). Chinese customers will also be able to purchase an NFC-capable device with support for AliPay for 270 yuan ($40). Although the wearable’s global distribution is unknown at this time, it is very possible that Xiaomi will introduce it to other markets in the next weeks and months.
