The US version of the Galaxy S21 series now includes the August 2022 Android security patch from Samsung. The most recent security update is currently being extensively distributed in the United States for the Galaxy S22 series. In the majority of foreign regions, the update has already been installed on both Samsung flagship devices.
The first two Samsung devices to receive the August SMR were the Galaxy S21 and S22 (Security Maintenance Release). In a few areas, the update just recently began to trickle out. US units are rapidly becoming a part of the group as well. The Galaxy S21 trio is equipped with the new security patch receiving , both on unlocked and carrier-locked models. The upgraded firmware versions are G99*USQU5CVGB and G99*U1UEU5CVGB for the two types, respectively.
For increased efficiency and stability, this update for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21, and Galaxy S21 Ultra includes various system enhancements. The deployment has started for some units on a few carrier networks, but it should soon be completed for all users.
Advertisement Users of the unlocked Galaxy S22 in the US are now able to download the updated security patch. The firmware version used for the update is S90*U1UEU2AVG8. It also offers various system stability improvements in addition to the most recent vulnerability fixes. The August SMR has already been received by the carrier-locked Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22, and Galaxy S22 Ultra in the United States. Just a few days after the international release, the rollout for them started.
Samsung has disclosed that this month’s security patch’s new SMR fixes more than 60 vulnerabilities. One of these serious problems with the Android OS permitted remote code execution through Bluetooth. The most recent SMR also fixes various problems that are unique to the Galaxy, including problems with crucial hardware and software including Samsung DeX, NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, App Lock, and Knox VPN.
Samsung has started testing the Android 13 beta version on Galaxy smartphones. The One UI 5.0 beta program for the Galaxy S22 series was just made available by Samsung. It is the most recent version of the business’s specialized Android skin and is based on Android 13, which has not yet been given a stable release. The Korean company will probably release One UI 5.0 beta to the Galaxy S21 series after the most recent flagships. The following devices should be the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.
