Samsung may use the brand-new UFS 4.0 storage technology in its forthcoming foldable handsets. The business recently disclosed that this month marks the start of mass production for the next-generation storage chips. It happens at the same time as the debut of the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4.

Storage chips for UF 4.0 have begun mass production. THIS MONTH In May of this year, Samsung announced the UFS 4.0 storage standard. The novel method significantly outperforms the USF 3.1 standard that is already used in devices like the Galaxy S22. Up to 23.2Gbps of per-lane bandwidth, which is twice as fast as UFS 3.1, is what the business claims. According to reports, sequential read and write speeds are 4,200MB/s and 2,800MB/s, respectively. UFS 4.0 storage chips will be extremely thin and quick, with a maximum size of 11 x 13 x 1 mm.

Furthermore, Samsung boasts an improvement in energy efficiency of almost 50% over the previous generation. The device’s battery life should noticeably improve as a result of these power gains. High-resolution pictures and graphically demanding games are putting a greater demand on battery life as on-device data processing rises.

Advertisement Samsung stated that it would start mass producing UFS 4.0 storage chips in the third quarter of this year during the initial announcement in May. The business has now disclosed that it would begin producing the next-generation storage solution this month. The information was provided to the Korean behemoth shared during the just-completed California Flash Memory Summit 2022. The Santa Clara Convention Center hosted the Summit from August 2 to August 4.

This schedule fits in with Samsung’s plans to bring the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 on the market, as was previously stated. On August 10, the new foldables become official, and two weeks later, they’ll probably be available in stores. They seem to be prime contenders to introduce the UFS 4.0 storage standard as a result. According to the business, new storage chips with a 1TB capacity will be available. Although the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is reported to offer 1TB of internal storage, there haven’t been many smartphones with that much space. This feeds the rumors even more. We won’t have to wait long for the confirmation, thank goodness.

UFS 4.0 Storage WILL CERTAINLY BE INCLUDED IN THE Galaxy S23. If the future foldables don’t use the new storage technology, Samsung will undoubtedly implement it on the Galaxy S23 series early in the following year. In the upcoming months, UFS 4.0 should also start shipping within flagship smartphones from other OEMs. The Korean company envisions uses for its technology in augmented reality, virtual reality, and the transportation industry.
