Finally, it has occurred. Google TV is now introducing Profiles after a false start last year.

On Google TV, you can gather all of your favorite shows and movies in one spot. The platform does an excellent job of actually making sense of the numerous streaming providers available today. It’s a great goal. But for a while, that came with the disclaimer that everyone in the house would see and influence your recommendations. Prior to recently, Google included support for Kids Profiles, but nothing for multiple adults.

Google initially stated that Profiles would launch in November or December 2021, however the feature has since been postponed without a new launch date.

THE GOOGLE TV PROFILES ARE NOW AVAILABLE That’s changing now that Google TV is introducing Profiles. User profiles create a personalized environment connected to each user’s Google account, and the functionality has virtually remained untouched since it was first introduced last year. You can access your personal watchlist, Assistant, and recommendations for movies and TV shows based on your tastes when you click on your account.

Individual user profiles on a device don’t alter the apps or logins, according to Google. The same downloaded apps will be available to all users, children not included, logged into the same accounts.

Google acknowledged to 9to5Google that while certain apps won’t update their profiles based on the system, Google apps will. For instance, YouTube will use the user’s current Google TV account.

A global rollout of Google TV profiles began today, and within a few weeks, all users will be able to use the service. All devices, including TCL TVs and Chromecast, will be compatible with the feature.
