The Galaxy S20 FE in the US now has the August 2022 Android security patch from Samsung. The most recent security patch is currently being downloaded for unlocked Galaxy flagship devices. The phone now has firmware version G781U1UES7EVG3. The carrier-locked models should shortly receive the update as well.

Since late July, Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones have been receiving the August SMR (Security Maintenance Release). The update was initially released for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S21, and Galaxy S20 smartphones. Last week, the Galaxy S20 FE joined the celebration. The most recent security patch for the phone is now also being downloaded domestically after an initial deployment in Europe.

The Galaxy S20 FE doesn’t receive any new features or user-facing improvements as a result of this update. Fixing vulnerabilities is the key. The August SMR fixes more than 60 vulnerabilities, including one significant Android OS flaw that allows an attacker to remotely execute code on vulnerable devices through Bluetooth, as Samsung has already disclosed. The most recent update to Android OS patches around 30 more flaws.

Advertisement Samsung has also corrected 31 issues that are unique to the Galaxy. Other brands’ Android-powered devices don’t have these problems. This indicates that Samsung’s hardware and software are the source of the problems. They have an impact on a number of crucial elements, such as App Lock, Samsung DeX, Knox VPN, Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi, and Dialer.

THE AUGUST SECURITY UPDATE IS ALSO BEING APPLIED TO THE GALAXY A33 5G. Samsung has published the August security update for the Galaxy A33 5G together with the US Galaxy S20 FE. The second is a brand-new mid-range smartphone that was introduced this year. SamMobile claims that a few Asian nations, including Hong Kong, Vietnam, and South Korea, are taking up the August SMR. The update for the phone should also be available soon in the European version. The Samsung 5G midranger was not made available in the US. Along with the aforementioned security fixes, the Galaxy A33 5G may also receive some system stability upgrades.

As usual, Samsung will automatically distribute the August security update to all of its compatible devices (OTA). You will be notified when it becomes available for your phone. To download the update, touch the notification. From the Settings app, you may manually check for updates as well. Simply click on Download and install under the Software update menu after scrolling down. Check back a few days later if you don’t see any OTA updates that are still processing.
