JBL just unveiled the Tour Pro 2 TWS (true wireless) earbuds, which come with the first smart charging case ever created. The latter is more pertinent in this instance because it has a touchscreen display. You can manage your music, check the time, activate ANC (active noise cancellation) and other settings, and view the battery life of your earbuds using the 1.45-inch LED panel. Additionally, you are able to answer calls, receive messages, and view notifications on your connected smartphone.

This clever enclosure from the Harman-owned audio company touts will increase your productivity. However, the business is attempting to address a hypothetical issue. A display on the charging case doesn’t really accomplish anything. You would already have your earbuds connected to your smartphone if you were using them. The companion app lets you manage or control the earbuds.

In terms of calls, messages, and notifications, your smartphone is more likely to be nearby than the charging case. Additionally, using a smartwatch is more practical if you have one. When the buds are being used, we frequently store the case. Only when the buds need to be recharged is the case recalled. Thus, it is more of a novelty than a useful feature.

Advertisement Despite this, JBL still merits recognition for their innovative approach. Both in terms of style and functionality, TWS earbud innovation has recently peaked. The majority of these tiny wearables share a similar appearance and function set. Even the design of smartphones is becoming less innovative. Few and far between are the times when manufacturers come up with novel ideas, like Vivo’s color-changing back panel and Nothing’s completely transparent rear design. JBL’s Tour Pro 2 TWS earphones differ in a few other ways as well.

Stepping aside from the smart charging case, the JBL Tour Pro 2 TWS earbuds look pretty good on paper, possibly giving Samsung’s recently released Galaxy Buds 2 Pro a run for their money. They feature six microphones with a VoiceAware feature for crystal-clear calls, adaptive ANC and ambient mode for hassle-free use, and 10mm dynamic drivers for high-quality audio powered by JBL Pro sound.

The JBL Tour Pro 2 TWS earbuds will cost $249 and be available in Black and Champagne colors starting in January 2023 on the company’s official website. JBL guarantees up to 40 hours of music playback with the Tour Pro 2 on a single charge, with the buds lasting up to 10 hours and the smart case providing an additional 30 hours. You have Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity with LE Audio support.
