Re Zero is based on the same named Japanese light novel series. The series was written by Tappei Nagatsuki, and it was illustrated by Shinichir Tsuko. Subaru Natsuki, a socially awkward, alone, and lonely man, is the protagonist of the novel. Subaru is on his way home from the convenience store when all of a sudden he is thrust into another universe. In 2016, Kadokawa Studios and White Fox turned the series into an anime. Masaharu Watanabe is the series’ director, and Masahiro Yokotani is its author.
The series has received recognition for its psychological and scientific subjects as well as its examination of the psychological issues associated with social withdrawal and isolation. The show’s distinctive fusion of adventure, science fiction, and dark fantasy won accolades from viewers as well.

The time between the two seasons was extremely long—four years. The series’ audience put a lot of pressure on the producers to produce a second season. The second season currently airing has also gotten positive reviews, which is sufficient for the show’s creators to start work on the third season. The third season hasn’t been officially announced yet, though. In an interview, producer Sho Tanaka expressed his confidence that after watching the second season, audiences would request a third. The third season is already under production, despite the fact that his statement did not specifically mention one.
