Truly wireless earbuds are available at almost any price point, although the least expensive models are sometimes the least reliable. With a price of just $39, OnePlus today unveiled the Nord Buds, its most cheap set of completely wireless earbuds to date.

The OnePlus Nord Buds will be available for purchase on May 31 in the US and Canada, with prices starting at $39 USD and $49 CAD respectively. In addition to the majority of European nations, the UK, Hong Kong, China, and India, OnePlus will also offer Nord Buds there.

What do these buds offer considering their incredibly inexpensive price? On paper, there don’t seem to be any clear sacrifices. The earbuds have Bluetooth 5.2 compatibility and 12.4mm audio drivers. For calls, there are four microphones and AI noise cancellation. This place lacks active noise cancellation. Battery life appears to be adequate, and Dolby Atmos is supported to improve audio quality. According to OnePlus, the earbuds themselves can support seven hours of playback on a charge, with an additional 30 hours when the case is included. Although USB-C charging is not wireless, it is quick—10 minutes of charging should result in five hours of listening. The earphones are IP55 water resistant and even offer low-latency modes (94ms) when connected to OnePlus smartphones.

The OnePlus Nord Buds will, of course, play audio from any Bluetooth device, but pairing them to a OnePlus phone will give you the greatest results. These headphones include OnePlus Fast Pair, which pairs via the HeyMelody app on other Android phones and only works with the brand’s portfolio. Unfortunately, Google Fast Pair is not supported.

The OnePlus Nord Buds go on sale starting on on May 31 in the US and become generally available in mid-June.
