Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 4 running Android 12L last week. The device’s permanent taskbar at the bottom of the screen is one of its most notable new features. Like on a computer, you may easily move between your favorite apps by pinning them. Later this year, the One UI 4.1.1 update will supposedly bring this capability to previous Fold series handsets.

A new version of Google’s mobile operating system called Android 12L is made primarily for devices with large screens, like tablets, foldable phones, and Chrome OS gadgets. To effectively utilize the additional screen real estate, it optimizes the UI elements. The Galaxy Z Fold 4, which was unveiled last year, is the first product to come pre-installed with Android 12L. It appears that Samsung also has plans to quickly update some of the more dated compatible Fold phones to Android 12L.

However, it’s not entirely clear whether One UI 4.1.1 is primarily Samsung’s own skin or is based on Android 12L. The taskbar can hold up to six shortcuts in the Google software version. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 however also displays a few recently used apps. In order to find out whether the older Fold models will receive Android 12L, we will have to wait for more details. Additionally, we are still unsure of which device will get the update. The original Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Z Fold 2, and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 from last year are the other three Fold variants offered by Samsung.

Advertisement We anticipate that at least the latter two will receive One UI 4.1.1 with the Taskbar. It allows you to move to another program without closing the one you’re presently using and shows next to the navigation buttons (or gesture bar). This greatly simplifies life when multitasking.

A UI 4.1.1 MAY SHOW UP IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS The release of the One UI 4.1.1 upgrade for Samsung’s earlier foldables has not yet been officially announced. However, we anticipate it to show up in a few months. It makes logical that the deployment will start before the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 is prepared because the new One UI version is based on Android 12. The latter is now being beta tested on the Galaxy S22 series by the Korean company. By the end of October or the beginning of November, the stable One UI 5.0 is anticipated to appear. Therefore, One UI 4.1.1 will most likely arrive on older Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip phones before November. We’ll keep you informed.
