We’ve gotten a glance of the impending ultra-flagship, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, which is expected to once more rework the camera system, thanks to a number of renders.

The Xiaomi 12 Ultra’s camera system will be very different from that of its predecessor, the Mi 11 Ultra from 2021, according to a series of 3D models created by Steve Hemmerstoffer, better known by his online as @OnLeaks , and made public through Zoutons . The previous model was unquestionably the biggest and greatest item in Xiaomi’s lineup for 2021, therefore the 12 Ultra is probably going to offer some noticeable upgrades.

According to this source, the tablet will include a 6.6-inch curved QHD AMOLED panel with a center punch-hole, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and a 20:9 aspect ratio. There is no room for a 3.5mm headphone connector on the flat side bezels at the top and bottom of the chassis, which look to house stereo speakers and possibly an IR blaster.

The internal components will probably be similar to the previous flagship models, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series processor, 12GB of RAM, and at least 256GB of onboard storage. The given specs, however, make no such distinction. The Xiaomi 12 Ultras is expected to measure approximately 161.9 x 74.3 x 9.5mm (13.1mm including the rear camera hump) and weigh 234g.

The large nodule found at the back of the Mi 11 Ultra appears to be replaced by a circular array bearing the previously announced Leica branding, according to the renderings. A 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 48-megapixel periscope zoom lens are planned. However, the renders are not totally complete as OnLeaks explains that he was not able to clearly identify each camera lens and sensor within all eight of the cuts.

Along with the images, OnLeaks predicts that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will go on sale in July at some point for a starting price of about $1,350. It won’t be long until we find out what Xiaomi has in store.
