After a false start yesterday, Google said this evening that the Pixel Buds A-Series are receiving a fresh firmware update that fixes the Bass slider problem.
We appreciate everyone who let us know about the toggle button problems with the EQ/bass slider feature that kept the bass effect from changing from original.
Since the feature or issue was first presented in December, this is the first big upgrade to Google’s $99 earphones. You can lower or increase the bass by one or four steps using the slider in the Sound menu. The following time they used the headphones, they discovered that their preferred volume was not applied. Moving the Bass slider and then bringing it back to the original level was a temporary fix.
Over the next two weeks, all users of Pixel Buds A-Series will have full access to firmware update 3.415, which is currently in the process of rolling out. The most recent release is 3.282.0 for reference.
When updates are released, your Pixel Buds immediately receive them the following time you use them. It takes 10 minutes to install after the buds are placed back into the charging case.
You can manually start the procedure by leaving the buds in the case and opening the lid if the update is available for your device. Open the Pixel Buds app, select Preferences, then More Settings, Firmware update, and then press Update available.
