There will soon be an Assassin’s Creed game set in feudal Japan. Ubisoft formally unveiled a number of new Assassins Creed series projects during its Ubisoft Forward event on September 10. One of them is an upcoming game that is presently known as Assassins Creed Codename Red and will let players assume the character of a shinobi while taking place in feudal Japan.

This historical period has likely been requested by series fans for more than ten years. And it appears that Ubisoft is now caving in to (or paying attention to) its fan base. It also arrives at a fascinating time considering how well-received Ghost Of Tsushima by Sucker Punch Productions has been since its release in 2020.

The announcement of a new Assassin’s Creed game wasn’t limited to Codename Red. Four other games for the series are currently in development by Ubisoft. One of which will debut the next year. Ubisoft also disclosed Codename Hexe in addition to Mirage. As well as the upcoming China-set open-world smartphone game Codename Jade. Additionally, a Netflix mobile collaboration release is in the works. At some point this year, it will also release the final piece of DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Advertisement Both Codename Red and Codename Jade will also be included in Assassins Creed Infinity, a hub that is thought to connect the mainline games in the series.

THE NEXT MAJOR TITLE AFTER MIRAGE, ASSASSINS CREED, WILL TRAVEL TO JAPAN

According to Ubisoft, Assassins Creed Codename Red will follow Assassins Creed Mirage as the next significant installment in the mainline series. Mirage won’t be available until 2023, therefore Codename Red is most likely still a few years away. Fans shouldn’t anticipate a quick release because Ubisoft hasn’t given a firm timetable for it. The last piece of content for Assassins Creed Valhalla, which debuted in 2020, will be delivered this year. The Last Chapter is a fitting title.

The studio will soon release a free DLC to wrap up the game’s narrative. That most likely means there won’t be any new material for Mirage for at least two years. Therefore, if we had to make a guess, Codename Red would be released sometime in 2025.
