The tech giant uses Google I/O as a yearly platform to highlight its accomplishments and offer insightful product updates. We’ve compiled a few of the most important figures and stats from Google I/O 2022 below.

NEW LANGUAGES IN 24 One of the biggest updates to the program in years, Google Translate is adding support for 24 additional languages, the company said early on at I/O 2022.

THE 86 BILLION GREENER MILES Over 86 billion miles have been traveled by Google Maps’ environmentally friendly routes, which are greener than the usual route. Although they take a little longer on average, these routes are more fuel-efficient. Google predicts that by the end of this year, this number will have doubled.

2 BILLION COVID-19 VACCINE RESEARCHES At Google I/O 2022, Sundar Pichai disclosed that over 2 billion searches for COVID-19 vaccine locations were conducted using Google Search and Google Maps.

500 MILLION PEOPLE USE GOOGLE MESSAGES. The next big thing for Android is RCS texting, and Google just revealed that its efforts have been pretty successful. RCS currently has more than 500 million monthly active users in the Google Messages app alone. Later this year, those users will also have access to group chat encryption!

In the past year, Wear OS has had three times as many active devices. There are now three times as many active Wear OS devices as there were a year ago, according to Google, thanks to the release of Wear OS 3 and, more importantly, a collaboration with Samsung on the Galaxy Watch 4. This illustrates the success of the Galaxy Watch 4 series as well as how terrible Wear OS was prior to it. Then again, progress! A Pixel Watch, too!

3 BILLION ACTIVE DEVICES USE ANDROID The number of active Android smartphones during the past month has reached 3 billion. According to Google, more than 1 billion devices have been added just in the last year.

A PIXEL 6A COSTS $449. The Pixel 6a, Google’s newest mid-range smartphone, will ship in July for $449 and come equipped with a full Tensor processor and other features.

270 MILLION LARGE SCREEN DEVICES ARE ACTIVE According to Google, large screen devices like Android tablets are becoming more and more common. It appears that there are close to 270 million active devices in the form factor. And all of this is before Google’s Pixel Tablet debuts.

20 GOOGLE APPS DESIGNED FOR TABLETS On that point, Google declared that 20 of its own apps have been tablet-optimized, and updates will begin to be released today. Maps, Messages, and YouTube Music are a few famous examples. The Google Play Store is updating its tablet design as well.

GOOGLE I/O 2022 WILL PRESENT SIX NEW PIXEL PRODUCTS A whopping six new Pixel devices were unveiled by Google as the keynote for Google I/O 2022 came to a close. There were displays of the Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel Watch, Pixel Buds Pro, and Pixel Tablet.

I/O 2022 brought back the Google Wallet brand, which Google wiped off in 2015 in favor of Android Pay, which has now become Google Pay. TWO TIMES, GOOGLE HAS RELEASED A PRODUCT CALLED WALLET. Time moves in circles.

FLUTTER USE BUILT INTO 500K APPS Over 500,000 apps are currently using Google’s Flutter coding language.

For the keynote speech, at least. The cloud gaming service Stadia most likely missed out on any time in the spotlight, but Google will undoubtedly mention it through its different developer sessions throughout the next two days.
