In terms of appearance, the design hasn’t actually changed much, but the dimensions have. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is a little bit broader and a little bit shorter. Additionally, it is a little bit lighter than its predecessor. Compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which weighs 271 grams, it weighs 263 grams. It goes without saying that a weight reduction for these bulky phones is always appreciated.

Advertisement Both gadgets use the Armor aluminum frame and are water-resistant to IPX8 standards. The folding display of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has been upgraded by Samsung and is now more robust. Although the designs of the two phones are relatively similar, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a narrower hinge. Both phones have three cameras that are vertically oriented and essentially in the same area. However, more on that later, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 did benefit in that area.

While the main display features an under-display camera, the cover display has a centered display camera hole. Although it is now less noticeable, you can still clearly see it. Although both devices are extremely slippery and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is slightly thinner, using a case might not be a bad idea. However, any kind of case would increase bulk, which is not good for any phone. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is more of an incremental improvement, but it is still an improvement.

Advertisement DISPLAY COMPARISON OF THE SAMSUNG GALAXY Z FOLD 4 AND Z FOLD 3 The size of the displays on these two phones is identical across the board for both panels. However, they don’t quite have the same displays. A 7.6-inch 2176 x 1812 Foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X primary display is included on the Galaxy Z Fold 4. That display runs at 120 Hz and can display HDR10 content. At 1,200 nits of peak brightness, it becomes quite bright. Keep in mind that only the auto mode will allow you to achieve this brightness.

The main display of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 sports a 7.6-inch foldable dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2268 x 832. That display is also 120Hz, has the same maximum brightness, and supports HDR10 content. But as you can see from the resolution, it does offer a distinct aspect ratio.

Displays of covers What about book covers? The 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays on both devices offer a refresh rate of 120 Hz. On that display, the Fold 3 features a resolution of 2268 x 832 while the Galaxy Z Fold 3 has a resolution of 2316 x 904. The Fold 3 has Gorilla Glass Victus, whilst the Fold 4 has Gorilla Glass Victus on its cover display.

Advertisement On both smartphones, the main and cover displays are actually rather impressive. To be completely honest, there isn’t much of a difference in the visual quality. Basically, the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s main display is a little bit more robust and the outside panel has a little bit greater protection. All of the panels have more than enough sharpness, outstanding viewing angles, and vibrant colors.

Performance differences between the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Fold 3 On paper, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the more potent smartphone. This device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, and inside it has 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM from Samsung. Depending on the model, you will also receive 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of UFS 3.1 flash storage. The Snapdragon 888 SoC powers the Fold 3, which also includes 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB or 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 might have a less powerful SoC, but it is still incredibly strong. In all honesty, you won’t notice a significant difference in performance. Due to its more modern SoC, the Fold 4 might be more future-proof, although both operate similarly on a daily basis. That applies to both gaming and other common activities you might perform on mobile phones. Many folks buy them specifically for multitasking since they can handle it like no one’s business. Both phones don’t become really warm.

Advertisement Battery comparison between the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Fold 3 The battery capacity of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Fold 3 is identical. On the inside of these cellphones is a 4,400mAh battery. Given the size of their primary displays, that might not seem like much, but you also need to consider the secondary display. Although we haven’t tested the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s battery life yet, it probably has a marginally better battery life than the one before it.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 uses less energy. Although the battery life of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 wasn’t particularly good, it wasn’t terrible either. However, a lot depends on your usage. If you are simply utilizing the primary display while gaming, you will quickly exhaust it. Battery life tends to be good with mixed usage. We also have high expectations for the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

What about the rate of charging? Well, the maximum wired charging power for both phones is 25W. You will receive approximately 50% of your battery charge in 30 minutes as a result. While the Fold 3 can only handle 11W wireless charging, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 offers 15W wireless charging. Both devices support Wireless PowerShare, or 5W reverse wireless charging as Samsung prefers to call it.

Advertisement CAMERAS OF THE SAMSUNG GALAXY Z FOLD 4 VS. GALAXY Z FOLD 3 In addition to the single camera on each display, both of these have three cameras on the back. When it comes to the phone’s primary cameras, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 does make improvements. It has a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 10-megapixel telephoto unit, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera in addition to two other cameras. Wide, ultrawide, and telephoto 12-megapixel cameras are all on the back of the Fold 3.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4’s 50-megapixel main camera is undoubtedly more powerful. Although we haven’t had much time to test it out, first impressions are positive. Compared to the Fold 3, the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s telephoto camera has a 3x optical zoom capability. Even if you zoom in very closely, you could be shocked by the seemingly insignificant difference. It does appear that the ultrawide camera is the same as in the Fold 3.

Advertisement One of the primary issues with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 has been its camera configuration. That phone’s photography performance is respectable but not outstanding. Since the competition is so fierce, Samsung needs to advance things, which it appears to have done. If these cameras live up to expectations, it remains to be seen. Most folks will be satisfied if they end up being on par with or nearly on par with the Galaxy S22 and S22.

AUDIO If you’re wondering whether either phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack, the answer is no. Although Samsung had plenty of room for that, it never materialized. We must contend with the fact that many flagship phones no longer have audio jacks. The stereo speakers on these two phones, however, are very excellent. In actuality, the results are comparable. They have a good amount of punch and even some bass, and the distortion is hardly audible. Both of these products also support Bluetooth 5.2.
