As Arms’ newest top-tier GPU, the Immortalis-G715 offers uncompromised performance. Built on top of the standard Mali architecture, but with 10 to 16 usable cores in this case. According to Arm, the new GPU should outperform its previous high-end GPU by about 15% while using 15% less energy.
Beginning in early 2023, we’ll start to see smartphones with this GPU linked to their processors, which leads to this GPU being attached to future MediaTek processors. Adreno GPU designs created in-house by Qualcomm are used.
Arm is also announcing the Mali-G715 and Mali-G615, in addition to the Immortalis-G715. The lack of ray-tracing and the number of cores are the key distinctions between these lower-end GPUs. The Mali-G715 contains seven to nine cores, whereas the G615 will have fewer than six.

The first Arm GPU to provide hardware-based Ray Tracing capability created exclusively for mobile devices is Immortalis-G715. A computer graphics technique called ray tracing simulates the routes that individual light rays follow as they move across a scene to provide realistic lighting and shadows. Although it is Arms’ first ray-tracing hardware-accelerated GPU, it is not the only one we have seen. The AMD and Samsung Exynos 2200 GPU is integrated into the chip, and it offers hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
It’s undoubtedly good news that Samsung and Arm are now promoting ray-tracing in terms of feature support. It will undoubtedly result in more Android apps adding support, but time will tell because the capability is currently very occasionally used outside of PC games.
Games built on the Unreal Engine will find it quite simple to take advantage of Arms’ new ray-tracing GPU because Epic Games has already backed it. The initiatives are also supported by Unity.
