The new Apple Watch Ultra, the company’s first wristwatch created for explorers and outdoor lovers, was unveiled by Apple today. It includes everything you would presumably anticipate from a watch of this caliber. Including a thicker body built of aerospace-grade titanium for increased durability, sapphire crystal glass for the retina display, and a veritable feast of features designed for your excursions.

Of course, if the watch doesn’t keep powered on, none of that actually helps you. Therefore, the new Apple Watch Ultra has a longer battery life. According to Apple, it can operate normally for up to 36 hours. Which has the longest battery life of any Apple Watch to date, according to Apple. However, if you use the watch’s new low-power mode, it gets better. By doing this, the battery life is increased to 60 hours from a single charge.

The low-power option won’t be accessible, however, until a subsequent update this fall. Additionally, using it makes functions like GPS and heart rate monitoring less usable. Consequently, some trade-offs exist. Of course, longer battery life is just the beginning.

The Ultra’s configurable action button is one of the most significant new features. There is a pill-shaped button on the left side of the watch that may be configured to give rapid access to many of the features. Users may set it up to open the depth app, exercises, or compass waypoints, among other things. These are but a few illustrations of what it is capable of.

The red hue of the interface is easier on the eyes in darker environments, making it only compatible with the Wayfinder watch face. This is better designed for evening scenarios.

Additionally, Apple offers three distinct bands and three built-in microphones that help provide greater sound quality. Each of which is designed for a particular outdoor activity. There is the Ocean Band for extreme water sports and leisure divers, the Alpine Loop band for explorers, and the Trail Loop band for endurance athletes and runners.
