Today, Google has two divisions with independent CEOs: Cloud and YouTube. Today, Google Public Sector was unveiled as a brand-new branch of the company with the goal of assisting American public sector organizations.

Announced by Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, Google Public Sector will function as a division of Google LLC and focus on introducing Google Cloud technology. Gmail and Docs are examples of workspace productivity tools, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) offers tools for data and analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. It is also stated that Google will continue to invest in training while also offering cybersecurity products.

The emphasis is on accelerating the digital reforms of federal, state, local, and educational institutions. With customized sales, customer engineering, customer success and services, customer support, channel and partner programs, compliance, and security operations, Google claims that these bespoke needs are expanding.

Additionally, the division will make available to government organizations Google Cloud’s highly scalable and reliable open infrastructure, including compute, storage, and networking, enabling them to update their antiquated information systems and create new applications with mission-critical scalability and reliability for the benefit of their constituents.

Google Public Sector will be led by a different CEO and have a different board of directors, in line with other technology companies’ government-focused divisions.

The board will act as a crucial conduit for customer feedback, ensuring that Google Public Sector goods and services satisfy user needs, assist us in anticipating user needs in the future, and promote differentiation in the U.S. public sector market. A chair and additional members of the board of directors will be chosen later this year.
