The world's most elite private mechanized fighting police force
We just got back from a coast to coast cartoon business trip!
Holy crap it was intense. In the course of 3 days we flew from Atlanta to LA, LA to New York, New York to Atlanta. It was an awesome and productive trip, we recorded audio for our new cartoon The Xtacles. We may have actually tried to squeeze too much into such a short trip. We were exhausted by the end, but the audio came out awesome.
In LA we recorded Rachel Harris and Marshall Bell. They were both hilarious and graciously complimentary of our scripts.
We were actually in town for the earthquake, but we were driving down the 405 when it hit. (oh... how LA!) So we didn't feel a thing. I was kinda bummed out.
In New York we recorded Micheal Ian Black. He was great, and we're huge fans of his... So I tried to not crap my pants while directing him to "make it douchier."
That night my boss took me to his "favorite Chinese Restaurant" in Chinatown. He wasn't sure it was the same place, and we both got mild food poisoning. Chinatown's got something for everybody. He took me over to the park where all the old Asian Dudes play Chinese Chess. Two giant white guys... Hilarious. I almost crushed someone.
We've been revising scripts for a while now. So we're eager to hatch them into episodes and shove them the hell out of the nest... with grace and finesse.
Nice. Can you say yet if Black making a guest appearance... or going to play a reocurring role?
Either way, I'm a fan as well.. can't wait.
Posted by: Nikki_D at August 7, 2008 2:15 AMThat's totally up to MIB (nice) and what he has time for.
Posted by: clunky at August 7, 2008 10:33 AMVery exciting stuff. Working with MIB, that's some fantastic schnitz. His blog entry about doing voiceover work for Pixar is a hoot. I'm sure he likes you guys better than Pixar.
Waiting for the Xtacles show is reminiscent of waiting for Xmas the year I knew I was getting an NES. It's Ag-O-knee.
Posted by: brody at August 7, 2008 1:44 PMam i the MIB of xtacles? was my part rerecorded by an actual 16 yr old?
if so, like MIB, i am not "crushed" or "bigsbied" i just wish i had gotten a bag o' schwag. like at least an xtacle helmet ashtray.
Fund It. :)

i was in LA for the earthquake - also on a cartoon business trip . . . that is the oddest thing in the world.
were you at cartoon network in burbank? thats where i was . . .
and - and - i practically live in new york.
how odd.
Posted by: nbumpercar at August 10, 2008 9:45 PMStuff fell off of the shelves here during the quake. I was actually a little shaken (emotionally). Of course, what's more distressing is that you were in LA and never called me.
Posted by: overdroid at August 11, 2008 4:37 AMI'm totally going to make a list of people I want you to meet to see if they're actually cool or not. I don't really want to meet celebs but I do like knowing which ones are cool.
Posted by: mmyers at August 11, 2008 8:34 AMDid you get to do any small talk with him? I am always curious how actors come accross when they are not acting...
Posted by: Kobyrama at August 11, 2008 9:45 AMMichel Ian Black is cool and all... but I am more excited that you get to work with "Kuato."
That sound booth seems pretty small, did he let the people have their air? (I know, not his line but it seemed appropriate)
