Good Day, Mr. CUEbrick

And the story goes...
In 1984, Director Stanley Kubrick placed an ad in Variety requesting would-be actors to send him audition tapes for a role in "Full Metal Jacket." According to legend, this tape was one of those sent in. It's authenticity is unknown. (via metafilter)

He likes to think of himself as a young Alec Guinness!

In Chuck D's newest entry in his online journal The Terrordome, he name checks Criminal Records in Atlanta as someone fighting the corporate machine and trying to keep a small business alive.

Remember this past Summer?
We don't... because we spent all summer hunched over our keyboards, clicking our mice, and animating the Pleaseeasaur Animation. Well, all that hard work and lack of vitamin C has finally paid off.

The new 2 Disc DVD/CD record The Amazing Adventure of Pleaseeasaur is on sale from Comedy Central Records. I just got a copy of it in the mail from The Central themselves, and it looks awesome! It features half live action and half animation. Together they create a PB&J-esque gooey mix of entertainment that will surely stick to the roof of your mouth and provide hours of chewing enjoyment.

Congratulations JP and Tommy!
Be sure to see Pleaseeasaur @ The Drunken Unicorn Thurs. Nov. 16th
we'll be there, will you?

Why Battlestar Galactica is one of the best Science Fiction shows around...

Oh Eddie Almos, you can lead my broken civilization to Earth any time.

The Woz

Steve Wozniak was the brains behind the very first personal computer ever made, The Apple-1. He and Steve Jobs founded Apple Computer.

I once wrote and directed a play in which a fictitious Steve Wozniak and a fictitious Steve Jobs had a falling out. Where Steve Wozniak drops out of the lime light and gets a job teaching at a local Community College, but in his spare time he works on a thrilling new computer. He invents the first sentient computer, an actual thinking machine. An evil Steve Jobs tries to steal the computer with disastrous results.

In the online question and answer forum Ask Metafilter a member posted a question asking basically: "What's the big deal about Steve Wozniak?"

Steve Wozniak creates a profile, and ANSWERS THE QUESTION HIMSELF.

Has Sony guts, you like? You want to Disco?

The new Nintendo system called the Wii is being released on November 19th. Only about a week after this clunkyrobot celebrates his birthday. I'm hoping I can "rollover" birthday gifts into a Wii purchase. I got my very first Nintendo, The Nintendo Entertainment System, also for my birthday. I unwrapped it in the morning and my Dad hooked it up before I went to school. I played 2 minutes of Kung Fu before I had to get on the bus... what a long day at school that was. All I could think about was jumping over those flying daggers.

In short, we are very excited... for the Wii.

C-dub and I tried to pre-order a Wii at Gamestop, but they only had 15 pre-order slots! 15! Of course they sold out within minutes. They told us you had to be in line at 8:00am to get one. The good news is that Nintendo is reporting that it has exceeded expectations on the number of units that will be available "at launch." This means that there is a good chance you can get a Wii the day it comes out, if you're willing to stand in line for a while the night before / the morning of launch. Which we may very well be willing to do...

This Japanese site got ahold of one of the most interesting features of the new Nintendo, it's controller. Called the Wiimote, the controller is designed to be motion sensitive. So for games like Tennis (which comes bundled with the Wii) you must actually swing the remote like a racket to hit the ball. Seriously that sounds like a blast.

Anyway these guys were nice enough to dissect the Wiimote and show us it's guts.

I have played video games my whole life. I was an only child, so I spent a lot of time by myself. I was either constructing an elaborate battle between Autobots and Decepticons, or I was playing Nintendo. The state of gaming these days makes me sad. It sickens me that even though I consider myself a "gamer" and have played my whole life, I will not be able to afford the newest and best game systems like the Playstation 3. It costs $600! Comparatively, the Nintendo Wii is going to retail for $250. While that isn't exactly small potatoes, I can at least have a rational discussion with my lovely new bride about buying it. I don't even want to imagine what the conversation would be like if I was trying to justify buying a Playstation 3... instead of say.. rent for almost a whole month. But I can be almost sure our conversation would end in me getting punched in the eye.

Tell me, are you locked in the punch?

Andy Kaufman said that once he initiated his infamous Windmill Punch wrestling move it was impossible to get near him, and he could often be "locked in the punch" for hours if necessary. The band R.E.M. in their tribute song to Kaufman "Man on the Moon" ask if Andy is locked in the punch. Took me years to decipher and truly understand that lyric... Sadly (and hilariously) Jerry Lawler defeated the undefeatable Windmill Punch within the first few seconds of their famous wrestling match.

the point is, I stumbled on a veritable treasure trove of Andy Kaufman clips on YouTube. Like anybody who has ever thought they were funny and pretended to be smart, I am a huge fan of Andy Kaufman. In fact, people often refer to the last few seasons of Sealab 2021 as "kaufman-esque"
only... they don't mean it as a compliment.

Years ago I bought the documentary made about his fake/real wrestling career on DVD "I'm from Hollywood" also included on the disc is Andy's surreal "Breakfast with Blassie" where he has breakfast with, and gets life lessons from venerable wrestler Fred Blassie. Blassie is credited with the coinage of the phrase "Pencil Necked Geek."

Here is a clip of Andy giving us Southerners a few tips on hygiene:

Other Kaufman clips:
Andy and Jerry Lawler's famous fight on Letterman.
The legendary Mighty Mouse performance.
And now... last, but not to be the least... The Elvis Presely

Welcome to you're "Doom!"

We got married!

It all happened so fast, I had to keep telling myself to slow down and enjoy it. That's why we're so happy that my buddy Ablebody shot and edited this short film. Thanks dude!

We're very excited to get back all the pictures and video our friends were kind enough to take for us.

Getting ready...
