The Man behind the musical curtain

Hot on the heels of a feisty Green Day post about Arena rock, what exactly constitutes "Punk" Rock, why GG Allin felt he had to poop so much on stage, and being passionate about music in general, I read an article about a music critic who sees large arena shows for what they really are...

Well Choreographed. (via mefi)

My favorite is when some douche spends an entire show screaming for the band to play that one song that he (the douche) really likes. Or is really cool (or punk rock) because he knows it. Like it's an ultra-rare b-side that only he and five other people heard. That guy always stands about three people behind me. And I always want to explain what a set list is and how one screaming douche sounds to a band that is 50 yards away.

Oh, and you are giving one punk rock douche waaaayy too much attention. (Emphasis on waaaaayy.)

You're right Randy.
It's refreshing though, when someone has somthing to say. It's exciting even, when what they say begs for criticism.

that was a great article from the pop music reviewer. love that he sometimes felt ashamed that he got to do something he loved for a career! have to admit, the greenday 'bit' no matter how choreographed, was every kid's ultimate rock fantasy come true. that sets the standard...what now, little man?
